The Meal Plan - Review

We are absolutely loving this meal plan business! What a great idea, if I do say so myself! It has had tremendous impact on our lives, and really created such a positive reaction.

Basically, we are shopping more effectively. Our entire fridge looks like some sort of health nut lives here because its filled with fruits and vegetables, whole grain products, low fat yogurt, cottage cheese... And there is always something delicious to eat in the house, and oh so fresh! And, to top it all off, nothing goes to waste because we only buy exactly what we'll eat in the week, and nothing more.

The morning/afternoon snacking has been a godsend. They prevent me from overeating at mealtimes, and make me feel like I'm being bad when I really am not. Sure, I cheated a few times (that chocolate bar was calling to me, I swear!) but overall did pretty well! And how did Matt do? He deserves some kind of medal! In just one week of the meal plan, I can see a change in him. More energy, because his body isn't so busy digesting such big meals, and a sort of verve that I haven't seen in a while. I wouldn't be surprised if he'd lost a few pounds as well.

As for me, I'm not quite sure if I'm losing any weight as a result. I almost feel like I'm eating more than I did before! Which, as it turns out, could actually be very true! Apparently, by snacking, or "grazing" all day, you can burn more calories and lose weight faster than if you're eating three big meals a day. Mostly because it keeps your metabolism going, so it doesn't have to process such large quantities at once, and then rest for hours. I'm too afraid to step on the scale though. A couple more weeks of the plan, and we'll give it another try. Maybe.

Only a few minor changes to the plan (as Matt would like to incorporate some breakfast cereals, he's sort of a cereal nut.) but aside from that, we're going to continue because we just... feel better! And I find myself so excited about what healthy snack I get to eat next! Peanut butter and bananas? Strawberry-banana frozen yogurt and fresh fruit? Cottage cheese and pineapple? Everything is so tasty! Who knew?
