After extensive conversation and discussion, research, talking to doctors and experienced mothers, practice and self development, my husband and I have decided that the right time...
...is right now!
We feel that the world right now, the one around us, is the perfect environment to bring a baby into. We have a loving, supportive extended family, we'll have a comfortable place to live, and a steady income. And now more than ever, we don't feel like two halves making up a whole. We feel like two thirds, waiting for that last piece to fall into place.
So we are officially trying to conceive.
We have ditched the birth control methods, read all the books about timing and technique, with a little side of perspective. Along with all of the excitement, though, comes all of the fears as well. Me, being the jump-to-conclusions worst-case-scenario type of chick that I am, will probably have a nervous breakdown if our efforts are unsuccessful the first time around. Despite the statistics that say a healthy young couple with no reason to believe they have fertility problems can take anywhere from 6 months to a year, and that you only have a 20% chance of conception every month anyway. Because that's just the kind of person I am. I'm a worrier.
But Matt insists I stay optimistic, hope for the best, and pray.
So, I am now finishing day 1 of my cycle. Once this uncomfortable portion of the 28 day rotation is complete, we can start doing the baby dance, and playing our cards in the game. It should be finished by day 7, at which time, just for good measure, we'll start a daily routine. Then, by days 12 to 16 we'll take special care not to miss any days in there, and for the rest of the month see how it goes. Then comes day 28+1, at which point, we find out whether our efforts were in vain.
Even though we've come to this incredible conclusion in our lives, it still just doesn't seem soon enough. I just can't wait to start this adventure!
